Veil Meditation Classes with Nahari
Saturday/Sunday April 26-27 at NiaMoves Studio in Houston Nahari is offering a weekend course in veil meditation and movement. The two days of class combine meditative movement, dance and chanting to activate an inner focus and concentration that develops dance with the veil as a spiritual practice. All the exercises are designed to bring you into a fluid, harmonious state of presence. And inspire the development of your own inner dance .
Nahari is a gentle,engaging teacher as well as mesmerizing, hauntingly beautiful dancer. She is one of my favorite teachers. I have taken her workshop and personally connected to that harmonious state. As an alternative method of meditation for dancers it is indescribable. And for the perfomance aspect, it brings a hypnotic, beautiful, introspective quality to your dance. And she sells fabulous silk veils and circle skirts!
Sufis say that there are 70, 000 veils between ourselves and God. Dancing with the veil can be a way into the ecstacy the Sufis speak of that brings us closer to ourselves and who we are through dance and movement and music.
